“At the same time we’re handing billions in taxpayer dollars over to Big Pharma companies for COVID treatments and vaccines, no strings attached, they’re continuing with the same business-as-usual approach of gouging patients. How many times do the same companies have to prove that they can’t be trusted before we lawmakers take action to end Pharma companies’ monopoly control to charge patients any price they want? As we speak, the White House’s Operation Warp Speed is throwing money at these companies in hopes of an eventual vaccine or treatment with no transparency and no guarantee that the drugs will be affordable for everyone. It’s time for Congress to take long-overdue action to limit drug corporations’ monopoly price-fixing and ensure that our investments will serve the public good, not Pharma’s profits.”
