Politico: AARP PUSHES CONGRESS TO TACKLE DRUG PRICING THIS YEAR

AARP and more than a dozen other patient advocacy organizations have signed onto a letter asking members of Congress to support H.R. 3, the House Democrats’ drug price negotiation bill.

The letter, organized by advocacy groups Lower Drug Prices Now and Patients for Affordable Drugs, was also supported by traditional liberal allies such as the AFL-CIO and the Center for American Progress.

The drug negotiation bill was passed by the House largely along party lines in December 2019, but stalled in the GOP-held Senate for the remainder of the Trump administration. Supporters argue the time is ripe for another attempt at passage, citing Biden’s campaign pledges and favorable public opinion polling.
